who?
"Tomucs" is normally me, Tom U; but design projects can involve other designers, freelancers, agencies, photographers, repro, print buyers and printers.
:how?
Generally an e-mail leads to a meeting which leads to a invitation from the client from which tomucs will build a tender. We then create a schedule and contract to fit the job. This would incorporate visuals, proofs, sign-off, copy dates, delivery details, etcetera.
:when?
Time depends on the spend of the above process from a single illustration or a large print or web project. However, if you need something tomorrow - tomucs can accomodate, and do the schedule afterwards.
:costs?
Fees vary according to the demands of individual commissions.
For project work we arrange an agreed fee
in advance with the client.
For smaller jobs or hourly work we charge by the hour (between £20 and
£50). All fees are based on an hourly projection not the size
of the budget.
This is fairer to all our clients. We
try to offer discounted rates to non-profit clients.
:hmmmmiddlemen?
Often design managers exist as an interface to prevent the common
confusions between clients and designers ....and printers and photographers
and authors and marketers and delivery men and their mum. This can be highly beneficial;
the service we provide is about facilitating and interpreting and making jobs easier.
As a consultancy we are merely visionary, and friendly.
:copyright?
For artistic work tomucs sells you the copyright for a
specified use only. If you wish to use the work for
varied purposes this needs to be specified at the outset.
This
may have an impact on the fee. Also - if you need to make further
use of earlier artwork you need to contact us again. With
design management commissions
copyright concerns are more complex.
More detail is set out in the contract.
